Free online text comparator
Paste two versions of a text and see instantly what changed: every difference is highlighted in green and red, line by line, word by word or character by character. Choose the side-by-side view or the unified document, fine-tune with the case, whitespace and blank-line options, then jump from one difference to the next — no account, no upload: the comparison runs in your browser.
Compare two texts and spot every difference
Paste the original on the left and the modified version on the right (or import two .txt files): the result updates as you type, with built-in stats and navigation.
The text comparator is free and unlimited: run as many comparisons as you want at all three granularity levels, no account. Volade runs no comparison server — everything happens in your browser.
A complete, fast and private diff
Two views: side by side or inline
Side-by-side mode lines the two versions up row by row for instant comparison; inline mode merges everything into a single document, with additions in green and deletions in red. Switch between the two without rerunning the comparison.
Choose a viewLines, words or characters
At line level, spot added or removed paragraphs. At word level, isolate the exact term that changed in the sentence. At character level, catch the tiniest typo. Sub-diff automatically highlights the changed segments within each line.
Change levelFine-grained filter options
Ignore case to compare content only, normalize multiple spaces, strip leading and trailing spaces, skip blank lines, or sort both lists to compare two inventories regardless of order. Stats track every option in real time.
Enable optionsPrivate: the comparator stays on your device
The diff algorithm runs in your browser: no text is sent to a server, nothing is stored anywhere but your device's local storage. Ideal for comparing contracts, clauses, internal reports or confidential drafts.

The online text comparator, free and with no account
Comparing two texts is one of the most common proofreading moves: checking what changed between two versions of an article, finding the error a reviewer introduced, confirming a translation stays true to the original, or making sure a contract was not silently altered. The text comparator from Volade performs this comparison directly in your browser: you paste the two versions, the differences show up immediately in green and red, and nothing leaves your device.
Unlike services that require an account or uploading a file to a server, this tool is free, unlimited and instant : it runs as you type, shows clear stats (lines added, removed, changed, identical and similarity rate) and lets you jump from one difference to the next. Contracts, CVs, scripts, lists, codes, legal texts or novel drafts: any textual content fits here.
How does text comparison work?
The algorithm splits each text into lines (or words, or characters), then computes the longest common subsequence: the longest run of elements present in both documents. Anything outside it is either removed from A or added to B; when a deletion and an addition follow each other, they count as a modification. The result is then rendered side by side or as a unified document, with original line numbers for each column.
Compare by line, word or character
The comparison level determines how fine the result is. Line comparison suits paragraphs and lists: it shows at a glance which blocks moved. Word comparison word highlights the exact term that changed within a modified sentence. Character comparison character goes down to the finest detail: a forgotten letter, a missing accent, a changed number. Switch from one level to the next on the same text to refine the analysis progressively.
Ignore case, spaces and blank lines
Two texts can be identical to a human but different to a computer. Five options bridge that gap: ignore case (“Welcome” = “welcome”), normalize multiple spaces (tabs and double spaces become a single space), ignore leading and trailing spaces, skip blank lines and sort lines — essential for comparing two lists whose order differs while the content stays the same.
What is a text diff for?
For writers proofreading their articles, lawyers comparing two versions of clauses, recruiters tracking the evolution of a CV, students checking that a correction was applied, developers aligning two config files, translators checking the fidelity of a version — and anyone who simply wants to know: “what exactly changed?”
Who is this tool for?
For anyone who works with successive versions of text and wants an answer right away, with no installation or account. The interface adapts to small screens, your work history stays in your browser, and the “Copy result” button lets you reuse the compared text elsewhere. If you also need to count words, to clean up a document or extract text from a PDF, the related tools below complete the chain.
