    Live Google preview

The search result draws itself while you type: favicon, address, blue title and grey snippet. You see exactly what visitors will read, truncation included, before the page even goes live.

Share card for Facebook, LinkedIn and X

The social preview reproduces the card shown when sharing: 1200 × 630 image, site name, bold title and two-line description. The same image file feeds og:image and twitter:image.

Two gauges track the characters in the title and description, and a checklist validates the length, HTTPS, URL cleanliness, keyword presence, image and site name. The score updates on every keystroke.

    FAQ

Frequently asked questions about meta tags

What is a meta tag and why does it matter?
A meta tag is a tag placed in the head section of your HTML page that describes your content to search engines and social networks. The title tag is the headline in Google results, the meta description provides the snippet, and the Open Graph and Twitter Card tags control how your link looks when shared. They shape your click-through rate and your visibility.
What is the ideal length for the title and meta description?
Aim for 50 to 60 characters for the title and 120 to 160 for the meta description. Beyond that, Google truncates the title and summarizes or rewrites the description: your message loses its main argument. The tool shows two live gauges, green in the recommended range, then orange and red when you go over.
How do I add the generated meta tags to my site?
Copy the code provided by the tool and paste it into the head section of your HTML page. On WordPress, an SEO plugin (Yoast, Rank Math) fills in the same fields from its editor. On a CMS or a static site, open the page template and insert the tags in the head section, before the existing title tag.
    Do meta keywords still matter?
No: Google has ignored the meta keywords tag since 2009, and Bing since 2014, because it was massively abused. The tool still generates it for compatibility with regional search engines and directories that use it, but the core of your work remains the title, the description and the page content.
What is the difference between title, og:title and twitter:title?
The title is read by search engines and shown in Google results. The og:title is read by Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp when a link is shared. The twitter:title is read by X. The same text can be reused everywhere, but each network truncates it differently: the tool's preview shows you both renderings before you publish.
What is the canonical tag for?
The canonical tag tells search engines the official address of a page when it exists under several URLs (with parameters, a separate mobile version, or http and https). It prevents duplicate content and concentrates ranking signals on a single address. The generator includes it automatically in the code it produces, from the URL you enter.
Do Facebook and X need a different image?
One file works for both: use a 1200 × 630 pixel image, legible as a square thumbnail, with short text. The tool generates og:image and twitter:image from the same URL, and the share preview shows the exact rendering with each network's cropping before you publish anything.
Is the meta tag generator free and private?
Yes: the tool is free and unlimited, with no account or sign-up. Everything runs in your browser, the values you enter stay on your device and are never sent anywhere. You can pick your work back up later thanks to local saving, then copy the HTML code in one click.

Meta tag generator: the recommended lengths in 2026

A well-optimized page starts with its tags: they determine what Google shows in the results and what social networks display when a link is shared. The meta tag generator by Volade gathers all the fields in one place, checks the recommended lengths and hands you the matching HTML code — no account, no server, in a few seconds.

The ideal length of each tag

Each tag has its own display window. Too short, it wastes space; too long, it gets truncated. The table is the reference:

    TagRecommended lengthBeyond
    title50–60 charactersTruncated in Google
    meta description120–160 charactersSummarized or rewritten
    URL (slug)3–6 wordsUnreadable URL
og:title≤ 60 charactersCut off in the card
    og:description≤ 200 charactersVariable truncation
twitter:title≤ 70 charactersCut off in the feed
    twitter:description≤ 200 charactersVariable truncation
    meta keywords3–5 termsIgnored by Google
    Image (og:image)1200 × 630 pxCropped or blurry
    Page H1Only 1, ≤ 60 char.Intent conflict

The tool's two gauges track these ranges live: the title turns green between 50 and 60 characters, the description between 120 and 160.

Title, description, canonical: the role of each tag

The title is the only element shown in blue in the results: it drives the click. The meta description doesn't affect the ranking but sells the page in two lines. The canonical keeps the same content spread across several URLs from diluting, and the robots tag decides whether the page should be indexed. The generator builds all four from your fields, so you never have to remember the syntax.

Open Graph and Twitter Card: controlling the share

When a link is shared, Facebook, LinkedIn and X read the og: and twitter: tags of the page. Without them, the network guesses from the title and picks the image itself — often badly. Fill in og:title, og:description, og:image (1200 × 630) and twitter:card and you dictate the exact card rendering, image and text included. The tool's preview reproduces that rendering before you publish.

    Mistakes that cost clicks

A title too long and cut in the middle of a word, a description left to chance, an http URL instead of https, a missing share image: each of these stands out at a glance thanks to the 8 checks of the tool. The final score shows whether the page is ready or whether fixes are still needed before going live.

Meta tags announce the content: it still has to keep its promises. Check the length of your texts with the character counter and the word counter, then move on to the related tools below to finish your page.
