A complete converter for every continent

Instant conversion between two cities

Select the departure and arrival zones from the list of 65 cities: the converted time appears immediately, minute by minute. Change a city, a date or a time and the result recalculates with nothing to confirm.

Convert a time

Exact offset, daylight saving included

Offsets are calculated on the real (IANA) zone at the chosen date: daylight saving, winter time and half zones like India (UTC+5:30) are taken into account automatically. The counters show each zone's offset and the gap between them.

Current time on both sides

Both live clocks follow real time in the chosen cities, updating every second. See your contact's local time at a glance before converting anything — ideal for scheduling a call.

100% local: nothing leaves your browser

The calculation runs entirely on your device, using the browser's native date API. No time, no city, no search is sent to a server: your appointment slots stay private, even offline.

How it works

Convert a time in three steps

Choose the two zones

Open the ‘From’ and ‘To’ selectors: the 65 cities are grouped by continent, from London to Tokyo. The Swap button reverses the two zones in one click.

Enter the date and time

Enter the time in the departure zone — by default, your browser's. The Now button fills in the current date and time to start from this instant.

Read the result

The converted time is shown large with the day (today, tomorrow or yesterday), the full date and the gap between the two zones. Copy the result in one click for your message or invitation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the time zone converter

How do I convert a time from one time zone to another?
Choose the departure city in ‘From’, the arrival city in ‘To’, then enter the date and time in the departure zone. The converted time appears instantly with the full date and the gap between the two zones. Nothing to submit: everything recalculates on every change, in your browser.
What is the difference between Paris and New York?
Paris is generally 6 hours ahead of New York in winter (UTC+1 vs UTC-5) and 6 hours ahead in summer (UTC+2 vs UTC-4), because both countries observe daylight saving on the same dates. The tool recalculates this offset at the exact date you enter, so the result changes if you convert a January or July date.
What is daylight saving time (DST)?
Daylight saving time moves the clock forward one hour in the warmer months to make better use of daylight. It does not apply everywhere: Asia and most of Africa never observe it, and change dates differ by region. The converter uses each city's IANA zone at the chosen date.
How many time zones are there in the world?
The world has theoretically 24 main time zones, from UTC-12 to UTC+12, plus half- or quarter-hour offsets like India (UTC+5:30), Nepal (UTC+5:45) or Afghanistan (UTC+4:30), and a few local exceptions. This tool offers 65 cities covering all of these offsets, with the same selector for departure and arrival.
Does the converter handle date changes?
Yes: if the converted time crosses midnight, the badge next to the result shows ‘Tomorrow (+1 day)’ or ‘Yesterday (-1 day)’, and the full date shown is the one actually experienced in the arrival city. An appointment at 11 PM in Paris does fall the next morning in New York.
What do UTC and GMT mean?
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the absolute reference for all zones: Paris is UTC+1 or UTC+2, New York UTC-5 or UTC-4. GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is the old civil name of the Greenwich meridian, now identical to UTC except within an hour. The tool's counters display each zone's offset in UTC to avoid confusion.
Can I convert a past or future time?
Yes: the free date field covers both last week's schedule and next year's appointment. The displayed offset corresponds to that exact date, which matters around time changes — a flight in March may not have the same gap as a call in October.
Does the tool work on mobile, and is it private?
Yes: the interface adapts to small screens with the same selectors, the same result clock and the same stats. The calculation runs entirely in your browser with the native date API: no city, no time is sent anywhere, which suits sensitive slots or offline use.
Time zones of the world

The most common offsets, winter time

Planning a call, a flight or a post between continents means knowing the exact gap between two cities. The time zone converter by Volade calculates that gap at your exact chosen date — daylight saving included — then shows the time actually experienced in the arrival city, with the day change when applicable. All locally, no account and no data sent.

What is the gap between Paris and the world?

Here are the most requested offsets, expressed relative to Paris in winter time (UTC+1):

CityZone (winter)Gap with Paris
LondonUTC+0−1 hr
New YorkUTC−5−6 hr
ChicagoUTC−6−7 hr
Los AngelesUTC−8−9 hr
São PauloUTC−3−4 hr
JohannesburgUTC+2+1 hr
DubaiUTC+4+3 hr
MumbaiUTC+5:30+4 hr 30
BangkokUTC+7+6 hr
ShanghaiUTC+8+7 hr
TokyoUTC+9+8 hr
SydneyUTC+11+10 hr

The tool's selector recalculates these gaps at your date: in summer, Paris moves to UTC+2 and the gap with Tokyo becomes +7 hr instead of +8 hr.

Daylight saving, half zones and exceptions

The displayed offset is not fixed: it changes twice a year in more than 70 countries, and some zones like India (UTC+5:30) or Nepal (UTC+5:45) never align their minutes with their neighbours. The converter relies on your browser's IANA zones — the source of truth of operating systems — to guarantee the right result even during a time transition, including for cities that have abolished daylight saving.

Read the day change without mistakes

When the converted time crosses midnight, the badge ‘Tomorrow (+1 day)’ or ‘Yesterday (-1 day)’ appears next to the result and the full date changes accordingly. This is the classic trap of international meetings: a video call at 11 PM in Paris is indeed scheduled the next morning in Sydney. The tool's two live clocks always show the real time of both cities to remove any ambiguity.
