Add one name per line, choose to exclude winners already drawn, then spin the wheel: the draw uses crypto.getRandomValues for a truly random result, the winner is shown in large text, the history fills up and the 8 checks verify your list. Free, no account, everything stays in your browser.
Paste your list, set the options: the wheel redraws live, the 8 checks validate the list, then the draw reveals the winner.
The wheel of names is free and unlimited: up to 100 participants, as many draws as you want, no account. Everything runs in your browser — no server is involved.
Every name becomes a coloured segment: the wheel redraws while you type, labels adapt to the number of participants and the pointer always points to the winner.
See the wheelThe winning segment is picked with crypto.getRandomValues and a rejection process removes modulo bias: the distribution is as fair as your browser's random function.
Spin the wheelExclude winners already drawn, follow the full history with number and time, and watch participants, segments, draws and last winner — everything is saved locally.
See the historyDuplicates, empty names, lengths, stray characters: the checks score your list out of 8, then the formatted results copy in one click to be shared.
Copy resultsOne participant per line in the text area: the tool counts segments, checks duplicates and lengths from the very first keystroke. The example prefills a list of ten first names so you can test right away.
Choose whether to exclude winners already drawn and the label display level. The two gauges confirm that the headcount and the list length are right.
One click on “Spin the wheel” starts the animation: the winner is shown in large text, the history updates, the score climbs to 8/8 and the results copy in one click.
A draw has to be defensible: no favourites, no one overlooked, no accusation of cheating. The wheel of names of Volade replaces approximate randomness with a cryptographic function, keeps a record of every draw and works without an account on all your devices.
Math.random() is enough for an animation, not for a contest. The draw relies on crypto.getRandomValues and a rejection process that discards excess values: every segment gets exactly the same number of possible draws, with no modulo bias.
Five parameters are enough to make a draw readable and fair — the gauge and the 8 checks show them live:
| Setting | Recommended value | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Participants | 3 to 100 | readable segments and equal chances |
| Name length | 40 characters max | labels that fit on the wheel |
| Winner exclusion | enabled | no participant ever wins twice |
| Labels | truncated beyond 30 | names readable even on a crowded wheel |
| History | kept locally | proof of previous draws |
Both gauges validate everything live: the headcount turns green from 3 participants and the list stays under 2000 characters.
Classroom raffle, picking the person on duty for the week, splitting teams, naming a contest winner, an everyday decision wheel: the wheel of names applies wherever a group decision has to land without debate. Add the candidates, share your screen and let the pointer decide.
Copy the results to keep a record, then secure the draws that matter: strengthen access with a password generator and give every participant a unique ID with the UUID generator.
