The days between dates calculator is free and unlimited: as many calculations as you want, no account. Everything runs in your browser, using your device's dates.
A fast, private and complete tool to measure any date range.
The calculation follows the real calendar, months and leap years included: from January 15 to March 15, the tool counts real months, not a rough subtraction.
Calculate a gapTurn on working-day counting to exclude Saturdays and Sundays: an exact tally for paid leave, notice periods and administrative deadlines, with no spreadsheet.
Count working daysIn exclusive mode, Monday to Tuesday counts as 1 day; in inclusive mode, both days count and the answer becomes 2. A single setting is enough to match your convention.
Choose the conventionCalculations run entirely in your browser, using the local date. No data is sent to a Volade server, no sign-up required.
Calculate without an accountInstant result, no account needed.
Enter the start date and the end date with the calendar pickers. By default the tool opens on today and tomorrow so the calculation starts right away.
Choose whether both boundaries are included in the count, and turn on working-day counting if you want to exclude the weekend. The result recalculates on every change.
The big number gives the gap in days, the next line breaks it down into weeks and days, then the grid shows months, hours, working days and total duration. Copy the summary in one click.
Everything you need to know before your first calculation.
Subtract the earlier date from the later one: count the remaining days in each month, then add the days of the years in between. This tool performs the calculation instantly, handles leap years and offers the conversion into weeks, months and hours.
It depends on the chosen convention. In exclusive mode (default), only the difference is counted: Monday to Tuesday is 1 day. In inclusive mode, both boundaries are counted: the same interval is 2 days. Toggle the option to switch between the two.
Turn on the “Working days only” option: only Mondays to Fridays are counted, Saturdays and Sundays excluded. This is the count used for paid leave, notice periods and administrative deadlines. The result adapts to the boundary inclusion option.
30 days make 4 weeks and 2 days (30 = 4 × 7 + 2). For 90 days, count 12 weeks and 6 days; for 365 days, 52 weeks and 1 day. The tool shows this breakdown automatically below the main result.
The month + days calculation follows the calendar: it first counts the whole months between the two dates, then the remaining days, taking each month's real length into account. Thus January 15 to March 15 is 2 months, while January 31 to February 28 is 28 days rather than a false month.
Yes. Calculations rely on the real calendar: 29 February of years divisible by four (excluding non-leap centuries) is properly counted, as is summer time, which can shorten or lengthen certain days. Your gaps stay exact whatever the period.
Yes, use the swap button between the two fields: the earlier date automatically becomes the starting point. The tool then shows a notice when the dates have been swapped, so the direction of the count stays clear.
No. All calculations run in your browser, using the local Date. No data is transmitted to a Volade server, no account is required and nothing is stored after the tab is closed. The tool is free and unlimited.
Counting the days between two dates seems simple, but the answer changes with the convention used, the length of the months and the leap years. The days between dates calculator from Volade settles all these subtleties in a fraction of a second: exact gap in days, breakdown into weeks and months, hours equivalent, working-day counting and boundary inclusion option — no account, no data sent.
The manual method is to count the remaining days in the ending month, then add the full days of the intermediate months and finally the days of the whole years crossed. Faster: convert each date into a number of days since a common reference (for example January 1, 1970), then subtract. The tool applies this second method, which guarantees an exact result even over long periods or across several years.
It all depends on the use. In exclusive mode — the most common for measuring a duration — Monday 6 to Tuesday 7 counts as 1 day: the gap is counted, not the boundaries. In inclusive mode, both days are counted, i.e. 2, the classic usage of legal deadlines expressed as “from the day of…”. Our tool shows both conventions in one click, without affecting the rest of the calculation: weeks, months and hours follow the same option.
A working day is a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday — Saturdays and Sundays excluded. The working-day count is the one used for paid leave, notice periods, billing deadlines and most administrative procedures. Over a 30-calendar-day period, expect about 20 working days: the gap is wide enough for a spreadsheet to slip up easily at month changes.
The weeks rule is mechanical: divide by 7 and keep the remainder (30 days = 4 weeks + 2 days). Months, on the other hand, follow the calendar: January 15 to March 15 is exactly 2 months, while January 31 to February 28 gives 28 days rather than a made-up month. For hours, simply multiply by 24 — the equivalence is exact, unlike month conversions. The tool shows these four readings side by side to avoid any confusion.
A six-month contract, a three-month notice, the days left before a deadline, the number of days of a freelance assignment, a maternity leave tally or a countdown: all these uses rest on the same calculation. Add the working-day count to match the usual convention, and the boundary inclusion note to respect the wording of your document. The examples in the how-it-works section cover the most frequent situations.
A spreadsheet can do the job if you already work with date columns, but you then have to remember the right function, stretch the formulas correctly and handle edge cases — it never becomes second nature. A dedicated calculator gives the answer immediately, on mobile as on desktop, with no formula to remember. And because everything runs locally, you can paste a confidential date without it leaving your device. To extend the count, the age calculator breaks down a person's years, months and days, and the time zone converter aligns your schedules between two cities.
